Death and Desert Travel
That's the title of one of the 280+ articles you'll find in my blog,
along with a couple of articles on survival, tracking down abandoned airports here in the desert south-west and even a few hints about semi- spontaneous fly-in's to some of those forgotten or seldom used airfields. I've even mentioned the advantage of doing your first flights off a dry lake bed -- kinda nice to have a 7 x 5 MILE runway in your backyard :-) Of course, if you've never pruned sage brush with your prop nor flown over regions where the gas stations on the Interstate are a hundred miles apart, it's kinda tough to appreciate the reality of desert flying. So mebbe this will help. http://video.ap.org/v/Default.aspx?p...CADIU&mk=en-ap The Husky is a good plane for this type of country and Kelly is a good pilot for the plane. -R.S.Hoover |
