Default Control checks!

It appears that a life could have been saved had basic controls checks
been performed - "Controls free and in the correct sense". A walk
round wag of the ailerons with verifcation the other one moved, or a
positive control check after assembling, would also have helped.

As a flight instructor I see too many pilots that think a control
check is satisfied by wiggling the stick. Some don't even think that
is needed.

Be careful out there!
