The only place within reasonable driving distance from where I live
that will do a MES commercial charges $500 an hour in a twin sea bee.
I figure it may be cheaper to spend the money on a airline ticket and
a week's stay in a hotel in order to get it done somewhere in a Apache
or something on floats for $200 an hour...

Snort!

there's only one apache on floats, fjukkwit.

Maybe you can do it in a Cessna 150 with a Cox engine screwed on the
outside.

I've got an old .049 "Golden Bee" variant to spare. Would that make
it a SuperCub?

Oh yeah, that was the big tank version with the inverted tank, wasnt it?

Still got scars on my fingers from starting those things.

Bertie

Yeppers...and yes to the scars...especially with a 'new' nylon prop.

Also, would it be best to get the SES first (which is a LOT cheaper),
then spend like 2 hours transitioning to the MES, or will I still need
8+ hours of MES time in order to pass the checkride? In other words,
if you already have your SES and your MEL, is a MES more or less a
formality, or will there most likely have to do a lot more training?
Remember, my goal here is to get the rating with the least money as
possible.

Norcal aviation used to do MES training in an Apache. Terri sold the
business and I'm not sure if they are still operating or not but you
might check them. I think their website was norcalaviation.com

Funny you mention them. I used to do instruction up there near
Calaveras. I flew there only once, but I do distinctly remember the
apache on floats sitting on the ramp. This, of course was before I
ever decided to pursue an MES rating. I see no mention of the apache
on their webpage, or anywhere else, so maybe they did sell it or
something...

Liar.

You're trying to moderate the group by ****ing on every thread or every
person you happened to disagree with.

Do I need to start posting the names of people on your hate list?

Like me, Honeck, Buttman, Galban, etc.

You are nothing more than a loud mouthed liar with serious control issues,
and you are hell bent on either controlling this group, or destroying it.
And everyone that supports your presence here, is just as guilty as you are.

All this troll bull**** is just a bunch of smoke.

medications maxie. reach for the medications....
