Default Solstice Greetings

Ah, once again the winter solstice has arrived in the Northern
Hemisphere. For we pagan sun worshipers (a.k.a. glider pilots) there
is hope once again that the days will grow longer and the thermals
stronger. Our thoughts go out to our friends on the Southern side of
the earth as the days start to grow shorter. Enjoy the peak of your
season for the next month as we anticipate the return of ours.

From Stonehenge to Chaco Canyon the ancient soaring pilots worked to

understand the movement of the sun to predict the return of soaring
season. Light a Yule log fire tonight, sacrifice a virgin to the
soaring gods if you can find one (they are hard to find among soaring
pilots) to ensure a good soaring season ahead.

Tim
