Default Need Advice: Generator in Campsite at OSH?

My youngest brother and I are are taking middle brother Dave to OSH this
year. Dave's getting steadily worse from Lou Gehring's disease (ALS or
Motor Neuron Disease), and now needs a CPAP machine at night. We will be
towing a camper, and will need either an AC hookup, or will need to run a
generator at night. I've talked to EAA about handicapped parking, and they
say that there are no hookups, but there is a handicapped designated area
that is "generator friendly". I plan on taking my small genset for this
purpose, but it's not very quiet.

We've never been to Oshkosh (we're all pilots, have been talking about going
for years; now it's "this year or maybe never" for Dave). How "friendly" is
"generator friendly"? Should I jerry rig a sound deadening enclosure for
the genset? We would much rather not run the generator all night, but Dave
needs AC for his breathing machine, and to charge his wheelchair. He will
also be more comfortable sleeping with air conditioning, too, but this is
less important. The camper is air conditioned, and the genset can handle
that, too. Any chance of a place close enough to a hangar to run an
extension cord? EAA was not very helpful in this regard. I would
appreciate some advice from experienced people. Thanks.

We plan on arriving on the 25th.

My understanding was that generators could run all night, there.

Why not consider a power inverter? Those machines do not require much
power, do they?

There is a 24-hour generator area in Camp Scholler where you can run your
generator all day/night without any noise reduction equipment.

I doubt there is any trailer camping site close enough to the show so that
the terrain and distance will permit ambulating in an electric W/C to the
show. Is it possible for you to drive the camper during the daytime to the
main show entrance and request an accessible parking spot?

This is where I'm staying - three miles south of the field. Never camped
there before.

I chose them for their electric hookups (because of *my* CPAP machine).
Don't know it they're full up or not. I made my reservation two weeks ago,
25th -31st. They have a bus for $1.50 each way. Leaves EAA on the hour she
said.

I'm sleeping in the minivan motel - building screened windows this week. 12
year old vehicles are fun because your can glue velcro strips to the
interior without hurting the resale value. g

I really hope all of you brothers find your way to Oshkosh this year! If you
do, we would really enjoy seeing your group at the 3rd Annual rec.aviation
North 40 Party ...Wednesday (after the air show) at Jay's site.

As has been mentioned, there is a 24hr generator area, but its a fair
walk to the gate.
