Dear Stealth,

I'm glad you brought up that point.

The main gear I described would have four tires (tyres) per side.
Initial touch-down would be upon the rear-most pair. If one tire of
the rear-most pair blew-out on touch down, in theory you'd still have
the other to bear the load. If BOTH tires were to blow, their rims
would still be in place and would cause the front-most pair to come
into play.

In the ultimate 'worse-case' scenario, all four (!) tires would blow,
leaving you with the four steel wheels to complete the landing.

A bit of overkill and a lot of extra weight for a "light plane".
I could possibly see a set of "duallies"

on the early jabirus the disk brake was slightly larger than the hub
of the wheel barrow tyres that were being tried.
you'd be surprised how many disk rotors have gravel graunching around
the periphery.

4 cheapie wheels locally cost $aus20 each ...thereabouts.
1 mainstream 5.00X5 costs $96.

if you can tell me the brand of calculator you use I'll either send
new batteries or a new one :-) :-)
