Default PARTY at world's eighth busiest airfield

Runway PARTY (with FREE parking) at Mpls/St Paul International Airport (MSP)
on Saturday 9-24-05

http://www.mspairport.com/msp/appdocs/headlines/Community_Runway_Event.html

"The Metropolitan Airports Commission will hold a one-of-a-kind,
family-friendly community event on Minneapolis-St. Paul International
Airport's new runway September 24. MSP: Ready for Takeoff is the public's
only opportunity to get out on Runway 17/35 before it is put into service
for aircraft in late October."

[17/35 takes you over the Mall of America (MOA) heading south]

"The event ends at 5 p.m. September 24 -- and so does your chance to run,
walk, dance, and play directly on the runway. Join us in marking this
important milestone in Minnesota and take advantage of this unique
experience of the world's eighth busiest airfield."

I'm all carbo'd up for that 1K family fun-run/walk at 10am.

Is THAT what MOA stands for?! Oh Jeez, I had that all misunderstood.
There must be some really big malls down here in the southwest.

So, it's NOT a Fly-In. :-( Oh well, can't fly in anyways...

Sure it's a Fly-in. You just have to be careful in dodging the running,
walking, dancing, and playing people while flaring.. :-D

I doubt that it is the eight busiest airfield in the _world_.

That's from the article. I'm sure they meant in the U.S. Or maybe they
meant "world" in the same way that the NBA or MLB crown the league
champions as "World Champions".

There are two means of defining "busy":

1. Number of operations and

2. Number of enplaned passengers.

Under criterion #1, some US GA airports would rank among the "10
busiest," with most of the non-US airports well down the list.

Chicago O'Hare International [KORD]
Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International [KATL]
Dallas Fort Worth International [KDFW]
Los Angeles International [KLAX]
Denver International [KDEN]
Phoenix Sky Harbor International [KPHX]
Mc Carran International [KLAS]

I doubt that it is the eight busiest airfield in the _world_.

Nevertheless, Minneapolis St. Paul International [KMSP] is the eighth
busiest airport in the world.

It's the same thing. The eight busiest airports in the world are all in the
US. The busiest airport outside the US is Paris Charles De Gaulle [LFPG].
