It is an excellent system and is here to stay. I have flown with the FES for 6 years without issue and plan to fly with it for many years to come. Now, like any system it is crucial that the manuals be read and that all operational procedure be properly followed. If proper procedures are followed and the batteries are properly handled and maintained, then the FES is a safe system and will operate as advertised. Now, we know that the investigation is still on-going so let there be no doubt that whatever recommendations result, will make the FES system even better and safer! Thanks - Renny |

Based on this..... https://d2ei442zrkqy2u.cloudfront.ne...C13US12141.pdf , they only show a max of 3A load for a single cell. The link from SoF is just a bulk pack of D cells, not a "battery pack". So, to gets amps from 1.5VDC, you wire in parallel, lots of cells can be a lot of amps, but at 1.5VDC. To get meaningful volts, you wire in series, lots of volts, but at about 3 amps. To do FES, you need multiple groups. Each group in series to get the volts needed, lots of those to get the amps and runtime. Sounds like thousands of dollars, lots of weight (alkaline has a low power density vs. weight compared to Lion or LiPo). Just saying......at SoF............I know HN understands this. ;-) |
