Default Gentle Green Giant?

In the last few days I've read a few references in the media about the
A380 that referred to it as the "gentle green giant". Last I knew the
380's engines spewed the same nasty pollutants as any other jet in
service.

Must be the spinmeisters in the Airbus PR office working overtime
again.

You could spin it as fewer tons of CO2 per passenger mile, I suppose.
That's the same advantage busses have over cars.

I thought about that, but with SIA's A380 flying with *only* 471
seats, not many more than the 747-400, that argument kinda falls down.
Now, if they ever configure one of them with the 800 pax single-class
config. (cattle car) that'd make sense. : )

Only if the seats are always carrying a passenger.
