Oshkosh 2006 Pix, at last!
well....The back of my head is in one of your pictures! Monday the 24th (B1
is fast even parked) Ps...boo I miss the convention as well.... Dave Zera Co-Chair Safety / Flight Line AirVenture 2007 "Jay Honeck" wrote in message oups.com... Jay... enjoyed the pictures.. your kids are two of the luckiest kids in the world.. I'd appreciate it if you could have a talk with them... ;-) Glad to see my old buddies showed up with my plane... the B-1 of course.. glad you liked it. The B-1 is awesome! I've never quite figured out why the B-52 still seems to grab most of the glory whenever there's a fight, cuz the B-1 is just soo much more cool. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread for this question...
I was wondering if the EAA Ornithopter was running at Oshkosh? Did it operate when I just wasn't around, or did it not come out? I think the event needs more of those silly things like that and Jerry's One Man Band. It puts something back on the human scale side of the show against all the military and corporate exhibits. |

Nope!
The Hay's brothers ( the owners of the Ornithopter ) closed their machine shop and retired and it was to costly to bring any more. (EAA would not cut them a break in pricing). I will miss them as well......!! Dave Zera Co-Chair Safety / Flight Line AirVenture 2007 "Paul Dow (Remove Caps in mail address)" wrote in message news:qwOFg.4819$SZ3.403@dukeread04... My kids have literally grown up with that silly ornithopter flapping around OSH every July, and both of them (ages 12 and 15) asked "Where's that goofy thing?" at various times during the week. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

It's just old age and treachery overcoming youth and skill. :-) The B-52 is the only front-line combat aircraft in the world where you can ask your grandfather for advice on how to fly it. The B-52s were built right after WWII, the aluminum they're built of came from thousands of scrapped B-17s, B-24s, and P-51. It literally has combat in its blood. Not to pick a nit, but the USAF is only flying B-52H which were made in the early 1960s. Dan, U.S. Air Force, retired |
