"Ron Natalie" wrote in message ... Not a whole lot of those out there. Probably more than you think. I have one. I actually flew my Navion around a bit with no radios in it (or transponder). Stayed away from the Mode C veil (and the ADIZ). I believe all Navions were built with electrical systems. They're not exempt. |

But if you don't have a radio it's probably because you don't have an electrical system. If your airplane has never had an engine-driven electrical system it doesn't need a transponder or encoder to operate in the Mode C veil. A plane like that would probably bounce off the Sears tower. George Patterson "Naked" means you ain't got no clothes on; "nekkid" means you ain't got no clothes on - and are up to somethin'. |

I don't think he would hesitate to make that call on ANY aircraft that violated Chicago's bravo. We already know he makes up his own rules as he goes along. He actually uses the rules to his advantage. His ducks are lined up. |

You'd still need mode C in most cases ;-) But if you don't have a radio it's probably because you don't have an electrical system. There are a lot more of them than you think within 50 miles of Chicago. I actually flew my Navion around a bit with no radios in it (or transponder). "Big John" wrote in message ... Never heard of F-16"s carrying flares. Anyone able to tell how? Last fighter I flew with flares was the P-51. It had a flare pistol that could be locked into a port by your left hip and was pointed back about 45 degrees so that when you fired the flare it would miss the wing. Flares are commonly carried as a countermeasure to IR missiles and discharged from a flare dispenser. |

Big John (out of hospital for a day or two and still lurking) Here's a picture. http://www.strangemilitary.com/content/item/101692.html That was the second result with Google for "Flare F-16" |
