Dick Schreder also used 5 ft skins on his designs, and John Monnet learned
at his feet. In fact, he probably bought the skins from Dick, who had to buy some fantasticly large quantity to get any at all slit to that width. My suggestion is to lap the skins on the lower side, just aft of, or on, the fwd spar. Keeping the lap there will have the least affect on both the strength of the forward D-Cell, and on the air flow. The relatively hi pressure on the underside of the wing will keep the airflow nicely attached. Do not build a Moni relying only on bonding, or your doom is assured. Use flush pop rivets, either stainless steel or monel (or, on closer spacing, Avex flush aluminum), per the last plans updates before INAV went under. -- Ryan R Young Oakland, CA http://users.lmi.net/~ryoung From: "groundloop" Newsgroups: rec.aviation.homebuilt Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2003 02:34:09 GMT Subject: need 2024 t3 5 foot by 12 foot .020 I need help I am building a moni and need to skin the wing I can get as long as I want but it is only 4 foot wide |
