Air Force officials are accelerating efforts to bring new
long-range strike capabilities into the inventory - a move that
may show, analysts and sources say, the service has awoken to the
harsh reality it needs to modernize more than its fighter fleet

In case you have not read it, the AF is looking for more bombers.
The big one is to push the FB-22. However the B-2 is also high
up the list.

They are not all that sure, according to the article, as have an
unmanned bomber.

Are the F-15E production lines still operable? I am guessing building more
B-1s is out, sadly. Maybe something like NSSN was to the Navy's attack subs,
a newer bomber with a lot of off the shelf stuff?

I thought they reduced the B1B force to save costs. That is, the USAF
could have more B1Bs flying if need be from mothballed planes.
