Yea, I'm serious.
It's a long story, but the synopsis is:

Over on rec.pets.cats.health+behav we've sort of
adopted this handsome, 2 yo, cat that is currently
stuck in an Orange County shelter. This poor little
guy has been abandoned, adopted, and then returned
to the shelter. He's up reevaluation (read: Do we kill him
or hold him a little longer?) on the 29th. The whole story
can be found on rec.pets.cats.health+behav in a couple
dozen threads and 1000+ posts with "Conan" in the header.
We've got someone to pick him up at the shelter, we've
got a guy who lives a couple of hours north of Seattle
who wants to adopt him. But the little guy need transportation.
One of the group's regulars is a travel agent and is trying
to arrange a free or low cost commercial flight but if that
falls through we still need transportation. Some cash is
available through group donations, but it wouldn't even come
close to covering fuel expense.
We have someone who can get him out of the shelter and
keep him for a few days so there's a little flexibility in scheduling.
So, please, can someone take "Conan" for a plane ride.
And you may just earn a "get out of jail, free" card for the
day you're standing at the pearly gates and hoping they'll
let you in.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I live in PA so I can't do it, but I hope you'll post a follow-up.
