Maybe by 2025 they'll be ready to start talking about it. I wouldn't
hold my breath. In fact I would guess that ILS's will be around for at
least another 50 years and the larger airports as a back up if nothing
else.

I agree. Loran will stage somewhat of a comeback as cover for GPS but the
other problem will be with ICAO and carrying forward the changes on a global
stage.

GPS unfortunately is becoming too politicised and will be the area of the
next "cold war". Russia has its own system, China is doing the same and
Europe will do if they can work out who is going to pay for it.

Effecting a seamless worldwide cooperative effort looks a big task at the
moment especially when one looks at the competing interests in GPS.

The other problem comes when GPS is asked to be more than passive and having
a similar ask/ answer function like a transponder. Serious developments will
be needed to prevent overload when nearly half the world can see any
satellite at one time.

Good morning or good evening depending upon your location. I want to ask you the most important question of your life. Your joy or sorrow for all eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good Excelsior Home Built 0 April 22nd 05 01:11 AM
