Default Instrument mounting question

I'm looking for some guidance on safely mounting instruments in an alumimium
panel. Our panel is about 2mm (about 1/12th inch) thick. We had all the
shapes laser cut, so everything fits well.

What do most of you do with deep, heavy instruments like a gyro? Is it safe
to just use the screws on the front or do most of you add some form of
support at the back of the instrument to support the weight? If so, what
construction did you use?

Thanks,
Rob

Look at the recommendations of the instrument manufacturer. Some require
rear support, some don't.

Most everything I've ever worked on was face mounted, and that
includes aerobatic competetion aircraft....

Hi Rob,

My suggestion is to face mount, mount the pannel using rubber mounts
(shock mounts) and choose your instruments accordling.

All 6 instruments + 2 OBS heads are face mounted in my Cherokee.
