Default Elvis Presley's Jet Is For Sale And Yes It's As Swanky As You Think It Is [02/10] - Elvis Presley's Jet 2.png (1/1)

Elvis Presley’s jet, whose interior The King reportedly took part in designing
himself, is for sale in New Mexico. And unsurprisingly, it’s the shag-carpeted,
fuzzy dice-having, white wall tire-riding Cadillac of private jets, just like
you though it would be.

Southern California-based GWS Auctions is giving Elvis fans a chance to bid on
the 1962 Lockheed Jetstar that the King co-owned with his father Vernon. The jet
now lies at the aircraft boneyard in Roswell, New Mexico, where it has sat
dormant for the past three decades, aviation magazine AIN reports.

The auction description states that the seller claims Elvis had a hand in
designing the interior, saying:

According to our seller, portions of the plane’s interior were custom designed
to Elvis’ specifications, including the gold-tone hardware, woodwork, inlay, red
velvet seats and red carpet.

The seller also says the paint job (with its amazing horizontal red and silver
stripes), interior and pretty much the whole jet is in the same shape as Elvis
left it all those years ago. Well, everything except the engines, which have
since been removed.

Still, even without the engines, GWS Auctions thinks this swanky jet will sell
from anywhere between $2 million to $3.5 million (though there is no reserve, so
maybe it will sell for less). So if, for whatever reason, you’re in the mood to
drop tremendous coin on the only one of Elvis’s jets that isn’t in a museum,
this is your chance.

Whether that’s true, we don’t know. But what is true is that the interior is
exactly what I’d think Elvis’s jet’s interior would look like: burgundy and with
what looks like shag carpets and huge puffy seats. The King wouldn’t have it any
other way:

Not only does the jet come with paperwork proving it’s legit, but you can even
have the whole plane disassembled and shipped to you. So if you want a 30
year-old barn find that needs a few engine swaps, but has a clean interior, a
clear title and a hell of a backstory, close that old Porsche 928 Craigslist tab
and buy this jet.
