Default Insurance coverage: $1,000,000.00

I have just received a tie-down sublease agreement from an FBO where I
am planning to park my airplane. The agreement has the following
provision:

"The Tenant shall provide to Landlord Certificates of Insurance showing
coverage and continued coverage by insurance for Liability and Workers
Compensation with M.D. Aircraft Service Inc., designated as additional
insured for the amount of $1,000,000.00."

Is that type of coverage normal? I am really afraid this insurance will
cost me an arm and a leg.

Comments anyone?

Standard stuff, at least at airports in my area (California's central
coast). Call your agent, in my case, adding the airport as named
insured was a no-cost deal.

Our insurance lists the owner of our hanger in general, not named
specifically. Something about "if said aircraft is housed in a hanger owned
otherthan by the insured, liability coverage also extends to the owner of
the hanger for personal injury and property damage." The city we rent the
hanger from required it, as well as the previous hanger owner. The wording
was found in a section of the policy called "Extended Coverage". There is
no mention of Workers Comp coverage in our policy.

There was no option to remove this from our policy and no price was attached
to the Extended Coverage portion.

Unfortunately it is typical. It dilutes the value of your liability
insurance, too. And now, they don't have to be so careful. If they bust your
airplane, or tow your plane into somebody else's plane, then your insurance
company pays.
