Default home base web server

Jeff,

I do the same thing, webserver and mailserver at home www.hinessite.com .

You already own the domain name, now you just need to have soemone host your
DNS. The good news is that this part can be had for free. I use
www.zoneedit.com for primary and granitecanyon.com as secondary DNS.

If you have a static ipaddress that's about it, if you have a dynamic
ipaddress, you'll need a Dynamic DNS client to update your DNS recored when
your IP address changes, I use directupdate, see www.directupdate.net

If you have more questions and would like to take it offline, you can remove
the NOSPAM from my email address and send it directly to me. I'm happy to
help if I can.

I apologies for this being off topic, but for some bizarre reason I feel I
can get some honest opinions here.

I own a domain, but get VERY little traffic. OK none in the last year, so

I
want to host it myself, so I can keep my email & yet drop my hosting fees.

I
have a live connection (i.e. cable), and I have a server I can dedicate to
this. Any recommendations on where I should go next? info on web? programs
to use?

Thanks in advance & sorry for off topic.

If you register your domain through register.com, they will host your
DNS as part of the normal registration fee.
