Default Falcon Instruments

I'm about ready for the panel work in my Zenith Zodizc 601XL. Are the
Falcon non-TSO'ed gyros (directional and attitude) any good? Anyone have
problems with them? Also, if they are non-TSO'ed, if I ever wanted to IFR
certify plane in future, do I need to replace these? Thanks in advance

Can't comment on the quality of Falcon but there is no requirement for TSO'd
instruments in a experimental/homebuilt aircraft IFR or VFR. The exception
to this is in the case of IFR GPS

I have a buddy who had both of them in his Zenith 701. According to him
they are junk. Had the first one (I do not remember which instrument) last
a few months before it quit working. It was still under warranty and the
company honored the warranty just fine. Then it broke again....and
again....they finally said after the 3rd one that the warranty had expired.
He replaced both of them with one of those new Dynon (not sure if I spelled
that right) multi-function instruments. He is very happy with it and told
me he would NEVER buy another Falcon instrument.

I am sure there are very happy Falcon instrument owners out there, but based
on my friend's experience I would not buy one. Good luck.
