Default Cold Weather Clothing?

This is an old thread I dug up - just wondering if there have been any improved products keeping one warm in wave that anyone is aware of?

Other than my low tech thermal underwear or longjohns as I call them, can
anyone recommend any new lightweight hi tech fabrics/clothing? Since there
obviously isn't any Soaring specific longjohns.....has anyone had any luck with
either bicycle or running clothes? TIA

THESE
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BE8I1SE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
are absolutely terrific! They look big and dumb but they slip on over a
pair of sneakers and have kept my feet warm for hours in single digit
(F) temperatures.

Might look at OROS apparel.
they are making outerwear with a very thin layer of insulation adapted from NASA technology. Much more comfortable and does not have the cold spots of compressed down clothing.

I've got a pair of Hot Chilly's long underwear. They were recommended by my mother in law who used them when working security at University of Minnesota Football games in the winter, also an active that involves cold temperatures and not much moving around.

They've worked very well for me on early spring downwind dashes.

I might have to try Dan's recommendation to keep my toes warm though.

Sailing gear transfers great to soaring. I wear Musto sailing pants, it is like they are made for soaring, with zippers an pockets in the right place while belted into cockpit. Various outerwear for sailing is also great for soaring.
