Bombbardier V220 vs Lycoming/Continental
Bombardier describes the V-220 as the "best power to weight ratio
in their class". Their web site lists the weight at 190 kg/419 pounds (see http://www.vaircraftengine.com/en/te...Data_v-220.asp). I believe but am not sure that weight includes all accessories. What does a comparable engine with accessories weigh? Also, the V220 gets 0.420 hp per pound of fuel. How does this compare with Lycoming/Continental engines? -Much Thanks -Charles Talleyrand |

I'm watching this engine very closely. 300hp up to 16k ft on 10 gph.
What scares me is the cost of admission. The 4 cyl diesels cost $70k+ due to re-cowling etc. Van says the engine w/ cost on a par w/ a turbo 300hp w/ FADEC. That's a lot. -- Thx, {|;-) Victor J. (Jim) Osborne, Jr. take off my shoes to reply |
