Default US Standard Class Nationals--Day2

Here we go race fans.....Day 2
Hoo boy....we had to earn our pay today. Another TAT in the shape of a square,
running south a bunch into a 5 mile ring called West, right turn West a bunch more into a 15 mile ring,...you get the idea.
After dumping our water on the grid and doing the elephant walk, we launch into a 5-6 kt sky with a few wisps around, climbing up to 7k to cool off. Gate opened and off we went with 3:30 hours to go and 99% blue skies. 3-5 kts lift with nasty attitudes was working. Tight core and evasive, frustrating for me. To make any headway required to dip into the heat zone below 5k.
All hard work until the final leg home east to the steering turn 5 miles south of TSA, turning North to show ones coloures before the Grandstand at the (around 200') finish line. The crowd cheered, the fireworks exploded, mothers and girlfriends cried. Beautiful site indeed.
I read that our Weather Man Walt Rogers, hmmmm, won the day by 45 pts to make up for his Day 1. Keep your fingers clear of the food bowl. I told you it was going to be a brawl. Plenty of days ahead for all kinds of possibilities.
Tomorrow looks like a repeat, then conditions start to improve to keep us in the comfort zone.
Operations had another perfect day and tonight social was to meet at a Midlothian Mexican Restaurant and sample the 117 flavors of Marquaritas.
People sho r nice here in Texas.

Visit the SSA site for all the specifics.
