Default JSTARS, River Joint, U-2s to seek bin Laden

CNN is reporting this morning that the US Mil is about to deploy U-2 spy
planes, JSTARS acft, and Rivet Joint RC-135s to search for bin Laden. They
claim that the US is going to maintain round-the-clock surveillance/search to
locate him. They say the acft will be controlling some RPVs in the search.

It's really too bad that these kind of assets weren't available several years
ago.

It takes time to turn the heroin North and create an economic reason for the
southern tribes to co-operate. Missing another entire crop would be bad for
their economies and further empower the northern tribes. I doubt bin Laden
will last until Otober.

They were, and they were used, and I'd be surprised if they have not
continued to be used over Afghanistan and the Pakistani border region since
then. The use of all three platforms was reported during the earlier
operations conducted in Afghanistan; that CNN is acting as if this is some
kind of new development is hardly surprising, given the poor accuracy of
their military reporting to date. Not sure how much value the JSTARS adds to
the mix, given the terrain and nature of the target.

Uhhh...yeah. I guess the military is in on some great political conspriacy,
huh?
