Just released. Some recognizable names in all branches...

Army bases currently proposed for closure or realignment in 2005
include:

snipped

The information contained in subject e-mail could not possible be correct.

The members of the BCAR Commission have not even been nominated by the
President and will not be nominated until March 15, 2005.

The Secretary of Defense does not make his recommendations for base closure
or realignment to the Commission until May 16, 2005

The Commission is scheduled to make its recommendations to the President on
Sept. 8, 2005.

The Commission continues until April 06.

It will be some time before any decision is made on which bases will close
and/or realign.

Some of the items on this list such as the C-9A retirement have already
happened.

Sorry, you've been had. See http://www.defenselink.mil/brac/ and click
timeline for the entire schedule.

Tex

Marine base closures and realignments include:

* Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California

Knew giving up NAS Miramar to the grunts would be a bad move.

Well, I just checked your link and the newest page is dated in October.
It's now December. My wife mentioned to me today that she heard BRAC
stuff on the radio on the way home, so there must be something going on.

Articles on the web:

and then there's this:

Meant to post "A BRAC List, NOT!" as a reply.

Naval base closures and realignments include:

* Ingleside Naval Station, Texas
* Naval Postgraduate School, California
* Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi
* Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, New Jersey
* Naval Recreation Station Solomons Island,
* Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, Indiana
* Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Virginia
* Navy Supply Corps School, Georgia
* New Orleans Naval Support Activity, Louisiana
* Pascagoula Naval Station, Mississippi
* Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, New Hampshire
* Saratoga Springs Naval Support Unit, New York

Marine base closures and realignments include:

* Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia
* Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California (realignment)
* Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California
* Marine Corps Mountain Warfare School, California
* Marine Reserve Support Unit, Kansas City
* Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California (realign or close).

Well lets see if any can muster the effort that NUW put out to get removed
from
the BRAC list. As far as I know they are the ONLY base to be removed from
the
list.
Miramar will close just because of the politics. Now we will see if it
becomes
a satalite field for Linbderg as was proposed over and over in the last 35
years. If I only had a Billion $ for real estate development... that is
after
the Navy cleans up all the HAZ waste.
