Default Killed by a SAM or RIM

Who was the first American killed by a SAM or RIM?

(RIM Ship-launched, intercept-aerial, guided missile)

maybe:
1965:
"On the night of August 11-12, the first Navy aircraft fell victim
to SAMs. LCDR Francis D. Roberge and LTJG Donald H. Brown of VA 23,
flying A4Es from the deck of the carrier USS MIDWAY, were struck by
SAMS while on a road reconnaissance some sixty miles south of Hanoi.
The pilots saw what they believed were two flares glowing beneath the
clouds and coming closer. Too late, they realized that glowing missile
propellant was the source of the light. Brown's aircraft exploded and
crashed, while Roberge's limped back to
the ship with a horribly scorched and peppered belly."

How soon they forget. 26 October 1962, approximately noon, an SA2
shot
down a U2 over Cuba, killing the pilot, Major Rudolf Anderson. A
trigger-happy Soviet officer launched the missile without command
authorization.
At least that was their story.

Weren't some of the recon overflights that were lost from SAMs? Or
were they all gun shoot downs? I know they were fighter intercepts on
most. More than a few died doing Soviet recon overflights in the 50s.
NSA had some tapes of the intercepts, especially a C-130 that went
from Turkey deep into the Ukraine by at least a hundred miles.
