Default Probe problem

I changed a bad probe on one cyl. My Hanger mate and I had about 8
spares.with very little time. I tried 6 of these and the same thing
happened. . When I snugged it up to the exaust pipe it would read 76..If I
took it out and put heat to it it worked ok. I did this to 5 or 6 and the
same thing happened. As soon as I snug it up it would not work. I can't
figure out what is happening. I know all the probes can't be bad .

any ideas

Steve

Try starting your engine after you install them. (GD&R)

Default Probe problem

Try heating one up and then touching it to the engine to see if the
problem has to do with a short to ground in the wires or gage.

Default Probe problem

I switched the probes and the problem went to the other cyl. It must be
some sort of ground problem because it doesn't quit working until the probe
is snugged up against the pipe.
