Default Dittel FSG 2T question

Has anyone successfully used pin 4 to connect a vario audio to the speaker for a Dittel FSG 2T radio? I tried this with a ClearNav Vario and was not successful. The manual indicates that this should work, but states that this feature is optional. I don't know if this means that it is an optional connection or if it is an optional feature for the radio. I am trying to eliminate a speaker in the cockpit.
Thanks, Sandy

Available on a lot of radios. I haven't tried it, primarily since every radio will mute or at least duck the auxiliary audio with radio reception and the audio vario will be lost.

Did you alter Jumper J303? See paragraph 3.4.5 in the manual.
