Default Junior Camp

Junior Soaring Development and Training Camp

The US Team Committee is planning to sponsor the first Junior Soaring
Development and Training Camp July 11-17, 2004 in Moriarty, NM. The
Camp will be open to Junior Soaring pilots age 24 and under, with
cross country experience. Preference will be given to Gold badge
holders. The Camp is scheduled for the week between the Region 9 in
Hobbs and the World & Standard Class Nationals also in Hobbs. We plan
to work on developing skills such as thermalling, increasing cross
country speed, and team flying. There will be a mix of ground and
in-flight instruction.

If you are a Junior pilot that has a sailplane suitable for cross
country, or can borrow, rent, or embezzle one (well please return it
when you are done) for this time, plan on coming! If you do not have a
sailplane, but are interested in attending, we will attempt to find
you one.

We are looking for volunteers willing to help put on this historic
event. This includes experienced competition pilots interested in
coaching or lecturing, and instructing cross country either with a
single place sailplane, or with a two seater. We also need sailplanes
that can be flown by the participants. Volunteers to help with the
Camp administration and management are also needed. Finally, as Junior
pilots are always chronically short of funds, donations of cash or
other items of value such as a room near Moriarty are always welcome.

Tax deductible donations to support this event should be sent to the
SSA and clearly marked "US Junior Team Development Camp"

If you are interested in attending or would like to keep informed on
our progress, please contact Garret Willat at
