Default Legal distance between street & helipad

There's a facility locally where all employees enter the rear parking
lot via a private drive. The drive is located 25 yards from the
helipad, and it goes BY the helipad, but does not connect to it.

When a helicopter is landing, parked, or taking off, the drive is
closed off to thru traffic.

I was just wondering whether there are laws regarding how closer or
far active traffic must be from an in-use helipad, and if not, how
close a vehicle would have to be to a moving helicopter to either a)
be affected, or b) affect the helicopter.

=1002heliports.htm is a link to an article concerning FAA treatment of
heliports. Within the article, they mention an FAA Advisory Circular,
"150/5390-2A".

You can download this direct from www.faa.gov/arp/pdf/5390-2a.pdf

That should get you started.

Short Google search. Google is your friend ;-)

The main concern is if you lose an engine on takeoff and having a
clear area to land until you have some altitude. Also depending on the
size of the helicopter, what debris it may toss due to its downwash.

Unless it is a big truck parked next to the helicopter, most vehicle's
will not affect a helicopter. Being in a vehicle, you may be rocked a
little due to the "wind".
