: You should really try Googling first, a truckload of fascinating info in this particular airframe - after 30 seconds work. Sorry, but there's not a lot of info showing up in this photo to translate into a google search. I am qualified to note these keywords: Jet aircraft, possibly British black & white photo multiple wing-fired rockets clouds Those helped with a return of over 90k hits. |

I ran a search for "buccaneer XN981" (that appears to be the obvious number on the wings) and received 1230 hits on Google including the historical overview below: http://www.blackburn-buccaneer.co.uk..._S2_XN981.html Frogdog has left the building |

. fr: This plane is a Blackburn Bucaneer. It was the main attack aircraft aboard the conventionnal carrier of the Royal Navy. When the last carrier was scrapped, they were transferred to RAF. In case of a war against the Warsaw pact, they would have carried anti-ship missions with the Sea Eagle missile. The 1991 Gulf war might be its last deployment. Thanks very much. Was much easier for me to see your typing than the number on the picture (my eyes, not the monitor's fault). I apologize for my English. May you correct the sentences? Never apologize for that! You should hear/see how the majority of us Yanks dork the language... Government education don't you know. |

Your English is far, far better than my schoolboy-grade French, so you really have no need to worry. 8-) UK English uses "apologise"; "apologize" is American English. This plane is a Blackburn Bucaneer. It was the main attack aircraft aboard the conventionnal carrier of the Royal Navy. conventional I remember first seeing the Buccaneer at a Farnborough air show. I think it was referred to as the NA.39 in those days. Nice and loud using reheat when accelerating fast, though the Lightning and Vulcan, in their different ways, never disappointed either. May you correct the sentences? Another thought. If you haven't done so already, take a look on Youtube. There are several Buccaneer shots there. Sojourner |
