Default Batteries for Schleicher fin compartment

It looks like the Power-Sonic PS-1229 is the correct size but I'd like
to know what others might be tried and tested.

Looking to start using one to power an EW Micro and/or future
transponder.

I use 2 of the BB BP2.3-12 batteries wired together in parallel. They
measure 7.01" x 1.34" x 2.56" so if you tape them together top side to
top side they make a very nice package with 4.6 Ah of capacity. The
PS-1229 is basically the same I think though some resellers rate it at
2.9 Ah and some at 2.2 Ah. Best to look at the spec sheet as some
batteries are optimized for higher loads than others.

Andy,

Yes indeedy, those batteries have the same dimensions. Two of them
together will not only duplicate the fixed fin ballast I previously
used, but might also be able to power an xponder and EW Micro Recorder
for five hours.
