Someone tell the pilot to bank more in the circuit. Watch the yaw string. The pilot is using the rudder to turn ... something that can result in an unrecoverable spin.

Thanks Stephen, My CFI made that exact point. I struggled with to much rudder, he would say either "Increase the bank or get off the pedal." it is a challenge to co-ordinate the two at first. I have about 17 flights now but COVID has put a stop to it here for now. Carl |

The camera mount point makes it interesting to see what you are looking at. You might tilt it down just a bit so you can see the airspeed and control operations as well. The yaw string was also offset on the roll out on the runway. Guess you were getting your crosswind training early. Practicing turn coordination near something hard is gutsy. How's the airspeed and turn coordination at altitude? Thanks for sharing. Hope you get back in the air. One of the schools around here put in a plexiglass shield between the front and back. Seems like a reasonable way forward. |

I'm sure your CFI has covered this, but it's really illuminating to take a high tow and practice stalls with a bit of rudder in - then be ready for spin recovery practice. Best to experience this at altitude, then fly fast, steep patterns down low. Cheers and fly safe, Kirk 66 |
