Default O-200 Modifications

Are there any O-200 engine modifications that increase performance. I don't really want
to see my C-150 at 150 mph, but it's fun to dream.

-Thanks

I wonder if putting the pistons from the engine of a Chrysler product
would do anything to these? Hmmmmmmmm!

Bumping up the compression ratio for an O-200 from 7:1 to 8.5:1
should make it about 107 hp. Running 9.5:1 might bump it up to 112 or so.
Of course, I'm not sure if a C-150 has an STC for higher compression, and
it would remove any autogas STC you've got.

The only way is downhill. General (but universal) rule: If you
want to make your plane faster, sell it and buy a faster plane.

There are lots of O-200 mods to increase performance. Get yourself
to the Reno air races and check out the Formula 1 class. The best I
heard was the O-200 on Pushy Galore. It was supposed to be putting
out something in the neighborhood of 225 hp. On the downside, the TBO
is probably about 50 hrs.

Of course, if you're looking for mods that would be legal on a
C-150, that's another story altogether. Even dropping a 150 hp O-320
(legal STC mod) will not make it go 150 mph.
