Default Winch Parts for Sale

Parts for an experimental roadable winch for sale. Assembled winch has been shown capable of smoothly launching a Grob 103 Twin II to upwards of 250 feet before Ford ECU related issues caused engine shutdown. Subsequent changes to control system are believed to have solved problem, but logistical issues have prevented further testing with gliders. This is NOT a completed operational winch, and will be sold as parts, as is, where is (Sacramento, CA):

1. 1996 Ford F-250 regular cab 4x4 truck with 7.5l/460 CID multi-port injected V8 engine and E4OD transmission 157K miles. Truck is currently CA registered, clear title, smogged, and fully drivable. Engine provides more than adequate amounts of torque for winch use, runs smoothly. Transmission shifts smoothly. Truck will be sold with OEM rear drive shaft and is fully 4WD capable, but has been driven regularly at highway speeds using front wheels (only) in 4WD mode. Cab has provisions for hand throttle and winch drum brake controls. Some surface rust on cab roof, but otherwise in solid condition. No pickup box, but they are readily available at truck dismantlers.

2. Steel winch frame with mounts for winch axle and fairlead assembly. Includes pneumatic or manual dog clutch mechanism intended for use with Dana 60 axle, rope path enclosure, and other parts. Provision for installation of two drums.

3. Extended two-piece rear drive shaft intended to drive winch axle from truck transfer case.

4. Rebuilt Dana 60 winch drum axle 8 x 6.5" lug pattern, 4.11 ratio, rebuilt drum brakes, vacuum booster, master cylinder.

5. Fairlead and pneumatic guillotine assembly for use with 5mm UHMWPE rope (Spectra, Dyneema, Amsteel, etc.). Guillotine has been bench tested capable of cutting doubled rope. Fairlead worked as intended during rope tow out and launches.

6. Reinforced steel winch drum 24" core diameter, 6" width, 36" flange diameter, with approximately 5500 feet of 5mm Amsteel Blue rope. Total weight (with rope) roughly 275 lbs. Drum fits standard 8 x 6.5" lug pattern.

7. Two sets of rope preambles, including strops, weak link holders, parachutes, connectors, etc. One parachute is a new Tost cruciform style, other is a surplus orange flare chute.

8. Miscellaneous parts including 12V 150 PSI air compressor, hand throttle, drum brake lever, control cables, laser cut steel parts for additional fairlead and guillotine, weak links, spares, etc.

Please make offers for some or all by October 10, 2015. marc at ranlog dot com
