Default Looking for particular B-17 painting...

Anybody know the name of the painting that shows a grandfather and his
grandson at an airshow next to the nose of Sentimental Journey, or is there
an online aviation art gallery that might have it? I'm looking for a print
to hang on October 14.

Thanks!

Do a google search for the aircraft. It will find the Arizona CAF chapter that
owns the B17-G. They may be able to help you.

Isn't that at Castle AFB in California? I think I Saw that there, at the
museum...

That's the one, George. I can sure relate to that painting, and I'm going
to fly there to get it. In 1985 I accompanied my grandfather (96th BG) to
the B-17 50th anniversary airshow there but of course the museum hadn't been
built yet. Three old Forts flew in that day, and when my grandfather heard
my first solo on the scanner in 1989, he rushed down to the airport to watch
me fly.

Yesterday I was shooting instrument approaches at McMinnville and found
myself in the pattern with Nine-O-Nine. Awesome day!

14 October 1943 was the date my grandfather's B-17 was shot down returning
from Schweinfurt, Germany. He adopted me. It's a great painting.

Yessir that is correct. The pilot of my grandfather's aircraft received the
DFC for crash-landing the airplane in a ditch, under fire and on fire, after
as all of the engines failed. I have a letter he wrote about it.
