Tony keeps posting great pictures of beautiful fields he lands in. We
don't have those around here. What we DO get is:

I guess I can live with that.

yea what is the deal with the inverse relationship between landable
fields and thermal strength? I flew at Marfa this spring and had a
couple 8-10 knot thermals. It was great until I hit the 8-10 knot
sink. Bravest I got all week was to get 12 miles from the airport.
If I could've gotten to 15,000 any of the days I was willing to
consider making a run to Alpine and trying for Gold Distance over the
highway to San Angelo.

I think I'd rather grind at 1 or 2 knots at 1000 AGL and actually go
somewhere, at least until I get something a little higher performance
so I can actually go somewhere when there is no where to land between
airports.
