Default KLN89B manual

I am in need of original manufacture's user manuals for the KLN89B.
The manufacturer no longer produces the spiral bound manual that
is required to be in the aircraft. Reproductions of the manual from
the PDF document are not an acceptable substitute for the manual
that must be carried in the aircraft.

I am unsure if the manual was sold by FBO's or avionics shops. If
anyone has information about a source I would be extremely greatful.

If any one has one or two copies that they are willing to sell or
knows of a source for a legal reproduction, please email me the
information. Again, I will purchase two copies of the spiral bound
legal document if they are available.

Why not? Especially if the manual is no longer in print from the
manufacturer.

Is this a local FSDO telling you this or where is it spelled out that
copies are verboten.

/snip/

Why are exact printed reproductions of the approved manual not acceptable?

I have the original manual, and would be glad to provide a reproduction.
Let me know what you feel is legal. I still have my 89/B so I cannot
part with it. I also have a required supplement that is carried in the
plane.

On my Garmin 430, I have a supplement as well in the POH. However, I was
told by the avionics shop that the supplement was adeqaute to satisfy the
in-aircraft requirement therefore not needing the manual in the plane. Maybe
Tom, the original poster, just needs to track down a supplement?

Your avionics shop is not correct. Here is the actual requirement from the
Garmin 430 supplement:

LIMITATIONS

1. The GARMIN GNS 430 Pilot's Guide, P/N 190-00140-00, Rev. A, dated
October, 1998, or later appropriate revision, must be immediately available
to the flight crew whenever navigation is predicated on the use of the
system.

I ordered the spiral bound pilot guide in August. Give Honeywell a call.
