Default FAR question

Part 61.39(a)(6) requires training time within 60 days of the application,
in preparation for the practical test. Is there one that says how much time
or how many flights are required? An instructor said yes but did not know
how much and could not find a specific part.

Thanks.

that depends on the rating..
Private Airplane SEL, FAR 61.109(a)(4)
Commercial Airplane SEL, FAR 61.129(a)(3)(v)

both say 3 hours in the last 60 days are prep rides.. they should be logged
and endorsed by the CFI as meeting the requirements of the appropriate
paragraph..

for Glider Private (61.109(f)(1)(i) or 61.109(f)(2)(ii))and Commercial
(61.129(f)(i) or 61.109(f)(2)(i)) it would be 3 flights in the last 60 days
