Default International Air Show 2008

The first International Air Show this year will be held at Hamilton
International Airport in New Zealand on March 7-9, 2008. Aviation
enthusiasts worldwide are looking forward for this three-day event of
fun and excitement.

Aside from exhibition of aircrafts and aerial displays, aerobatics and
parachuting is also included in this "Wing and Wheels" event. The
famous Warbirds with their freighter airplanes will battle out in a
dogfight; as for the Royal New Zealand Air Force will showcase the
capabilities of their aircrafts also the skills of their highly
trained pilots in aerial displays.

As the host of this year's spectacular event, New Zealand will also
showcase classic cars, vintage cars, hot rods and military vehicles.
Together with this, Outdoor Expo will give visitors an opportunity to
check out latest products related to camping, boating, fishing, and
more things related to the great outdoors.

The New Zealand International Air Show 2008 has numerous displays
lined up to keep enthusiasts and mere fans entertained with this
extravaganza.

It's a stretch calling is an "international" air show, this event is
going to be lucky enough to get NZ'rs to attend let alone anybody from
overseas.

Not only is it essentially competing with Warbirds over Wanaka, but
there are also the following problems:

1. They have stated NO gate sales, if you want to get in you must
purchase in advance a non-refundable ticket which allows you access to
a specific designated area. If the show is called off, too bad, you
lose, no refunds. Not only that, but the areas are designated in some
instances by the number of tickets you wish to purchase, if you're
ging on your own, you get no choice - "on your own, great go stand
over there, and don't you move".

2. NO confirmed aircraft or displays. All the marketing material
depicts various aircraft, but they are only for marketing purposes,
more or less "at an airshow you can see aircraft, these are some non
specific examples of aircraft".

3. When an airshow includes in it's primary marketing material a
series of images with captions like (I kid you not!) "there goes my
guy, he's a pilot", see "stuff", "more stuff", and "hot girls", well,
what hope is there really.

If anybody wants to come to NZ for an airshow, go to Warbirds over
Wanaka, but I'd skip this Hamilton event and instead spend some time
touring around the South Island, a much better use of your time if you
ask me.
