I feel sorry for all involved. A poor bloke was killed, and the pilots'
lives will never be the same.


This is close to home. The A-10 pilots were local Boise pilots attached to
the Idaho Air Guard.

This seems to have been a cockup. Criminal incompetance may or may not have
been involved; that's not for me to judge. I don't, however, understand why
this one is receiving more publicity than the killing of Terry Lloyd, who
was *murdered* whilst being evacuated from the fighting in a civilian
vehicle.

You only have to read Stephen Ambrose's books to realise that for a long
time the Brits have perceived the Yanks as being too gung-ho and the Yanks
have perceived the Brits as being too cautious.
