Default UK Contest Finishes

For information, and because there seems to be some misunderstanding
in the "Idaho Fatality" thread about what is and is not allowed in UK
contests since the tragic finish line fatality, see Para 22.2 and
section 34 of the BGA competion rules he

(I don't think that the finish circle method that is included in UK
rules has been used in a UK rated contest but it was for several years
in the UK Overseas Nationals at Ocana in Spain.)

What was banned was going into ground effect long before the line and
hedge-hopping in at high speed.

Further to that the finish ring may not be used without the specific
authority in each case of the BGS Comps. Committee. The reason given for
this is that is does not comply with the ANO and the requirements of the
CAA.

Competition finishes are still practiced outside competition on a regular
basis.
