Default Garmin 430W holding help?

I've seen discussion here about setting up a hold at a waypoint and
tried to make it work today but could not.

Reading the manual, it appears that using the OBS button to SUSP will
do it, but that seems only to define a new track to the waypoint and
really confuses the autopilot.

Suppose heading 330 you have VOR EON as your next waypoint and want to
hold on the 090 radial. How does this work with the Garmin?

That's one of the reasons people buy the 480. Its more complex but it
does more of the functionality you are looking for.
