Default O200 engine pressure

Hello,

is anyone may confirm some type of crankcase internal crack cause oil
pressure drop?

drain the oil and take the football off the bottom of the engine (oil
sump) and have a look up inside using a thousand candle power
spotlight. you can see it all before you.
you just need to have a new gasket available for the sump to engine
joint.

as to the question. havent experienced it with my O-200 but with the
spotlight and an inspection mirror you should be able to confirm the
suspicion or put your mind at ease.

Low oil pressure in a small Continental is usually due either
to worn bearings, a worn oil pump, a loose oil pump cover, or a
sticking oil pressure relief valve and maybe a broken relief valve
spring. I'd take the accessory cover off first (while that oil tank is
off) and check out the pump. The relief valve is under a brass acorn-
headed plug on the RH side of the accessory case.
