Would be great if we could get a "bird's eye view" of your approaches
and take offs at these remote places.

what's remote about Malta or Luxor?

I assume it's not legal to take passengers on these flights. *However,
could a second pilot go along even if the aircraft did not technically
_require_ two pilots? *I have a feeling many of us would love to have
that "once-in-a lifetime" opportunity to ride along on one of these,
and perhaps be somewhat helpful to the PIC along the way...

A second pilot (Must Be Instrument Rated) can come along and help fly
as required crew. And a large bank account to cover their expenses.- Hide quoted text -

Expenses such as - food and hotel? * Would one need to purchase a
survival suit (or any other equipment)?

Yea, survival suit and epirb... food, lodging, airfare, ground
transportation, customs fee´s, etc. *it adds up rather quickly.- Hide quoted text -

So, you're talking about 5-6AMUs? That is rather steep, but well
worth it for the experience and the hours IMO. I think one will spend
almost that must just hopping the local airports.

What's the reasoning for the second pilot to have instrument rating?
Isn't having a second pilot a bonus with or without an IR?

I'm thinking that the weather would be fairly predictable and the
rated pilot can plan his rests along the way.

Well, I used to do that and some sectors can be pretty long. 12 hours
isn't uncommon and I've doen 17.5. 15 minutes of napping can make a big
difference!

Try sitting amid the self loading cargo on either
Sydney - Los Angeles
Auckland - Los Angeles
