Default Flight Instruction

Can you be a flight instuctor without obtaining a instument rating if you
will not be teach instument student. Ex. Comm Pilot - Flight Instuctor
(Single engine land) with no instrument rating?

In that example (CFI-ASE), no, you cannot earn the ticket without first
having an instrument rating. However, in other categories of aircraft an
instrument rating is not required for the flight instructor certificate.
Helicopter is one.
