Who *are* these people that can spend days (weeks?) putting a video
like that together?

Hilarious, but ya just gotta wonder...

That wouldn't take all that long to shoot.

Coming up with the IDEA might...

Your concept of time is clearly different than mine. Shooting that
video had to take at least an entire day (probably more) which -- in
my world -- would be a completely implausible use of time.

I doubt it would take that long. Back when my son played with Legos we spent
about an hour on that specific model. Double that to stop every once in a
while do shoot a picture and add another 30 minutes to edit it together. 2.5
hours.

Whatever floats yer boat Those that do it for a living have come up
with some really creative imagery. Two examples off the top of my
head:

There's a movie that came out around the late 70's, "The Wizard of
Speed and Time," which uses a similar technique (pixelation) but with
objects like people, film reel cases, etc. Kind of a hokey plot (small
kids may dig it, though), but , some rather interesting effects are
acheived.

Then there's the Zappa DVD "Baby Snakes" which uses claymation but
with a regular film camera. In this application of stop motion
animation, there's no automatic control for advancing the camera, so
the guy is painstakingly clicking the camera manually for each frame
(sometimes more than one frame before manipulating the clay). I
imagine it took days/weeks to put it together, but the final product
is some utterly insane effects. Of course, the one-way trip he most
likely took prior seemed to have contributed to the 'concept'

No CGI here. This is all old-school, earning it the old fashioned way.
Great stuff...

The author of this movie will probably think that your concept of time
is clearly different than his, and that for him, flying around in a spam
can would be a completely implausible use of time.

Besides, a reasonably experienced person with a reasonably equipped
computer will probably make that movie in less than three hours.

I think I read somewhere that the NTSB report stated probable cause as
pilot's lack of judgement (i.e. gottagettoaurinalittis), with contributing
factors being failure to do a proper preflight, and overfull pilot bladder
placing c.g. outside approved limits.

And buzzing the tower didn't get any accolades either...
