Hi all, can anyone tell me what all the smoke is coming from the sides of
several missiles?
(I know it's smoke but what causes it)

TIA and Cheers,

Dennis

It's the exhaust from small spin motors. Honest John and
Lance were spin-stabilized during their boost phases.

Thanx Bill.

I was thinkin in that direction, but I assumed that there would be a
spiralling smoke trail visible.
Probably these pictures were taken too early to see the missile "spinning".

Cheers,
