Default No XM Weather For Lowrance 2000c...yet

Well, the word is back from Sun N Fun -- Lowrance still has no XM
weather for the 2000c, despite all the advance rumors.

According to one source (a member of the Cherokee Pilots Association),
the reps at the Lowrance booth said they will have it in "Maybe 2
months...maybe a year..."

An Oshkosh intro, perhaps? Hope springs eternal...

A friend of mine who just returned from SNF told me that AvMap had
introduced XM weather, and I just about wet myself (Mary and I LOVE our
AvMap!) -- but I can find no reference to this introduction anywhere.
I presume he's mistaken, but can anyone verify that?

Jay,

Well, the word is back from Sun N Fun -- Lowrance still has no XM
weather for the 2000c, despite all the advance rumors.


What they have instead is the lowest-priced color GPS yet. Not too
shabby, either. And way more affordable than a 396.

I love my Lowrance 2000c. It's a great unit. Having said that, I do have
a couple of nits.

Cons
o The menus are poorly laid out; but you adapt.
o They do NOT encode altitude with their "trail" data.
o No USB or serial port which means, if you want
to connect your GPS to a computer or other odd-equipment, you must use a
special serial cable. I have not checked, so I'm not even sure one is
available. If one is available I'd guess it to be expensive.
o The thing chews through batteries at an incredible rate

Pros
o Display very easy to read in multiple light situations
o Night mode is good
o Terrain database is really nice and I like how airspace is treated
managed
o The extended centerline is a nice feature too
o The 2-d trail data is nice to plot. There exists a google earth deal
which lets you convert your trail data to plot on google earth. That can
be fun. For students, the trail data really helps show turns around a
point and pattern work.
o Really, too many nice things about this unit, which can be had for
around $800 ($900 if you want terrain).


For anyone wanting to get a nice GPS, be sure to look at least think about
getting this unit.

Or the new 600c. Smaller display at the same resolution. Much less power
required, thus batteries last much longer.

Oh, the cable is around 35 $ at lei-extras.com.

Default No XM Weather For Lowrance 2000c...yet

Has anyone had trouble getting the E6B functions to work on the 2000c?
After I put in the CAS, pressure, altitude and temp into the calc screen, I
don't get the altitude and airspeed calculations, so of course the wind
direction and other calcs on the other screen don't work correctly.

I've tried most reasonable button combinations to try to get something to
display, but I only get the three dashes ("---"). I did find that if I'm
in entry mode for the pressure and push the up arrow again after it's
displaying "3" for the first digit (using inches Hg for units) the pressure
entry field will jump to "39.99", and if I push up again the calculations
will magically appear (grossly incorrect because it's using such a wack
pressure to calculate!), but if I then push "Enter" to save the setting the
calcs return to "---"...

I have the Terrain Awareness model with software version 1.4.0

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I've not tried to use those features. I'll see if I can check them
out sometime in the near future. I have the same version you do. I'll
report back if I remember to try it.

Can you provide the exact link and part number? I've having trouble
finding a cable. Do you know if you can provide power via the cable too?


There are two variants of the cable, one with a cigarette lighter adaptor
included, one without. Best call lei-extras customer service.
