Former Miramar, Lemoore pilot to head Navy's Blue Angels ASSOCIATED
PRESS

(EXCERPT) 1:22 p.m. April 22, 2004

PENSACOLA, Fla. – A veteran of combat over Afghanistan was named
Thursday as the next leader of the Blue Angels, the Navy's precision
flying team.

Cmdr. Stephen R. Foley, now a graduate student at the Naval War
College in Newport, R.I., will assume command of the Blue Angels at
Pensacola Naval Air Station on Nov. 14 after the 2004 air show season

years.

Rear Adm. George E. Mayer, chief of naval air training in Corpus
Christi, Texas, announced Foley's selection from seven finalists. He
will replace Capt. John Pruitt, of Birmingham, Ala., who has headed
the team for the past two years.

Foley is a native of Charlestown, Mass. He graduated in 1984...

I normally ignore Mr Willie, and this is a good reason why.

CDR Russ Bartlett is the current Blue Angel Boss.

Capt John Pruitt is the currnet CO of NAS Pensacola.

Fine job of reading an editing.

Good practice, but,

CDR Russ Bartlett is the current Blue Angel Boss.

Capt John Pruitt is the currnet CO of NAS Pensacola.

Fine job of reading an editing.

what ever gave you the impression that Phil Coleman, aka Otis
Willie and various other sock puppets, ever reads and/or edits
the stuff he picks off the web and spams to all the
military-related news groups?

In fact, it was either the AP, or the CHINFO, or local Navy PIO
who screwed up the Navy's press release.

OJ

I agree 100% That was the brunt of my comment. The sock puppet only rips
articles off and never checks things out.

The only reason I gave it the time of the day is a regular here commented on
it and it showed up through my ""wille" filter

I see AP, UP, NBC.... screw ups all the time. I am amazed it came from a
Navy press release as when they are about the Blue Angels, they normally go
through the BA PR Officer to CNET and or CNATRA and are accurate.

Although the choosing of the BOSS is not a internal Blue Angel process, the
press release would have gone though the chain first.

The other part I find funny that US Govt releases are not governed
completely by Copyright Law and are free to reprint "for free"

Agree. AP wouldn't know/check names provided in a Navy release,
so someone/two/three/four/howevermany USN type(s) screwed up.

Canned sig. I don't know when/why Phil stopped posting entire
articles - if he was called on it by one of the newspapers/wire
services/whomever or what - but he uses that on every one of his
spams, even if it isn't appropriate for government originated
releases. However, in this case, the AP article almost certainly
was copyrighted - even if the only difference between it and the
press release was changing the headline and byline. ;-
